Today is Wednesday, but our story really began on Monday. It was a nice sunny day, but far away you could hear the explosions from France. Our beloved hero Cobber Kain had just died. He was such a good leader, but I’m glad that we had people like him that continued fighting for us. Many Germans were getting closer, but they were losing thousands of men in the process. I was worried they would reach Paris, where so much had already happened and so many had died. On the news I saw that Italy had already lost 24 ships, yet they continued to send more out! The weather shifted and the clouds started to roll in. The RAF had bombed Libya and Milta, and continued to send out ships all the while. The RAF had started bombing Italy, and the South African air force was bombing them too! They both were very successful. To my dismay, the Germans made it into Paris, and they were marching through it! I wanted this to end. We were sending thousands of men each day whose only purpose to protect us and it seemed that our men were dying in vain.
By Tuesday, the Germans had completely taken over Paris, but on the bright side the weather had lightened up and it sunny was again. Still we were sending more and more men every day.
Today the weather is a little gloomy again. It seems to change as much as my feelings do. I don’t know what to think of this war anymore, so many things have happened. I don’t know what to believe or put my hope into. When I watched the news I discovered that France has laid down their arms! I knew this was coming but my little hope that they wouldn’t has been shattered. I want to know the terms Hitler is going to give France; waiting patiently is taking its toll. I hope this all turns out alright.
